Ride-Alongs

Complete the form below to request a ride-along.

Shift ride-alongs will be offered to students enrolled in fire, EMT, or other emergency management programs; candidates in an EFPD employment process; or in special circumstances with the prior approval of the Fire Chief. EMT students may interact with patients as necessary to meet their educational requirements. All other participants will not have contact with patients or participate in any incidents – the ride-along is purely for observational purposes.

Ride-alongs will be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the discretion of the on-duty captain.

During hiring processes, candidates may request a ride-along up to 48 hours prior to the Skills Assessment and Interviews. No further ride-alongs will be allowed until the conclusion of the hiring process.

  • Under NO circumstance will a ride-along participant be permitted to enter a building that is on fire, hazardous materials incident hot zone, or any atmosphere that would cause harm as deemed so by the commanding officer.

Taking pictures is prohibited unless specifically approved by the on-duty captain. Participants may encounter personal or private information, including private health information (PHI). This information must be kept confidential at all times and may not be released unless required by Colorado law.

Failure to maintain the privacy of patients and customers encountered during the ride-along experience is a serious breach of behavioral standards and may open the participant to personal responsibility or liability.
