Fire Prevention Bureau

The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) plays a critical role in fulfilling the District’s mission of saving lives and protecting property. The Fire Chief is responsible for overall operation of the District including the FPB.  Within the FPB, the Fire Chief is responsible for monitoring the activities of the FPB, providing strategic direction, authorizing the filing of criminal citations, and providing the requisite support for the bureau to fulfill its mission.

Daily operations within the FPB include scheduling fire inspections, fire prevention activities, overseeing cause and origin investigations, and acting as a liaison with outside agencies.

The Fire Prevention Bureau includes:

Investigators - Investigators are appointed by the District to investigate the origin and cause of fires.

Fire Inspectors - Inspectors are appointed by the District to conduct fire inspections. Inspectors function within the limitations established by the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control.

Juvenile Fire Setter Educators - Juvenile Fire Setter Educators have completed the course of study established by the National Fire Academy or the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.  These educators are responsible for presenting the curriculum developed by the National Fire Academy to juveniles referred to the FPB.
